Hi, I’m Gabby Ledesma.
An artist, a daughter, a sister, a person of deep faith, and an advocate for the neurodiverse community. I create art because it is the truest way I have to tell the world who I am. This is the story behind the colors.
The Spark
My artistic journey began more than two decades ago, during my senior year of high school. I fell in love with ceramics first — the cool weight of the clay, the way my hands could turn an idea into something real. Painting followed soon after, and from that moment, art has never left me. I continued my education through several community colleges across California, constantly experimenting with new materials: acrylic, watercolor, sculpture, mixed media. Whenever a new idea flashes through my mind, my hands already know what comes next. Art is not something I do — it is something I am.
A Legacy of Bold Creativity
I did not become a creator by accident. Creativity, faith, and the courage to use your voice run deep in my family. My great-grandmother was Aimee Semple McPherson — a woman who lit up stages, filled stadiums, and was one of the very first women to preach over the radio. She was a pioneer. She was bold. She refused to make herself smaller for anyone, and she used every gift God gave her to bring people hope. When I pick up a brush, I feel her. When I stand in front of a crowd and talk about my art, I feel her. The medium has changed — she used the spoken word and I use color and clay — but the mission is the same: to remind people that they are loved, that they are seen, and that they have something beautiful inside of them that the world needs. Her courage is the inheritance I am most proud of, and it is woven into every piece I make.
“She used her voice. I use my hands. We are the same fire, just in different shapes.”
Going Global
One of the proudest moments of my career came when one of my art installations traveled all the way to Cork, Ireland. Knowing that my work crossed an entire ocean to be seen by people who had never met me made something click inside of me. I realized I am not just a local artist. I am an international artist. From California exhibitions to overseas showcases, my art now speaks for me in places where I will never get to be in person — and that, to me, is a miracle.
Faith, Family, and Advocacy
I believe with my whole heart that it is vital to bring awareness to the abilities of all people. I have Mosaic Down Syndrome, and rather than something that limits me, I have come to see it as something that opens me up — to color, to emotion, to other people, and to God. My family taught me one lesson above all others: love one another. That is the foundation everything else stands on. When I keep God first in my heart and lean on my friends and family — the people who proudly wear the shirts I design and show up at every exhibition — I grow not just as a creator, but as an advocate for self-determination, for inclusion, and for the simple, radical belief that every human being deserves to be seen.
A Note to You
If you have made it this far in my story, thank you. Whether you become a collector, a friend, a fellow artist, or a quiet supporter, you are part of this journey now. Every piece you take home from my shop is not just art — it is a story you are choosing to carry with you. And that is the greatest gift you could ever give me.
